Our 'Baby Boomers' are Booming Baby!

Who says you can't be a senior and know a lot in the tech world?

As we all get older, it can sometimes seem as though the world is passing you by. Especially in the area of tech. Seniors are often forgotten in technology thus making it harder and harder for them to keep up. If you remember like I do the sweet smell of Sunday dinner cooking on the stove on any given Sunday at Grandma's house.

The smell was paralyzing. Our elders are the back bone of our society. We are forever indebted to them. They are our grandparents, our teachers, our advisors, our mentors.

Senior Citizens are from an era of hard work paying off. There is no shortage of men over 65 that do not know the meaning of skilled labor and hard work. Our grandfather's worked long, hard hours. They worked in Steel mills, janitorial, cooks, laborers and many other blue collar jobs. Of course, there were and still are senior executives that live the life of luxury and stop at nothing to receive the best of the best as they are now with years more behind than ahead of them.

Either way, whether you or your elders in your family are retired, working, rich, struggling or the like, all senior citizens are to be praised and respected. I mean seriously? Where would we be without them?

The best software engineer working at the most savvy of tech firms in San Francisco is no match for the amount of raw knowledge and blunt opinions that are sure to be given by our elite elders. The sheer amount of data stored in their brains are parallel to that of any server. When my dad gets going on his days in the Air Force, I may as well sit back and relax. I am never tired of hearing such great detail in his stories. He talks me down a visual valley of detail that only he can bring. It is a precious moment when I get to hear and he shares with me things that made him who he is today.

Before WeWatchTv was up and running, I'd go to the library and work on other projects. I'd often notice how many senior citizens were constantly looking for help with the computers. One right after the other. It was disheartening to say that least. Even once some got help, there would be another questions coming right behind the first one. I would sometimes feel sorry for both the elder and the worker as I could see that the library attendant had many other tasks to be had. At the time I really had no idea how far I'd come with WeWatchTv.

Now that we are fully up and running and have been for some time, I am determined to make the process easy for our seniors. I am actively looking and booking resources to aide in our senior family's experience with our service. It is the least we can do. I just want to THANK all of the customer's over 60 that are with us. You guys rock! You are the original OG's. We salute you. I have enclosed a couple of resources for your convenience. Take a look at them. Maybe they can help those who are struggling with the the whole "computer thing". Are you a senior? What can we do to make your experience easier? Are you a customer that has seniors in your family? By all means take advantage of what is posted here.

We praise our first responders. Rightfully so. However, let's stop and think about what a first responder truly is.

  1. There when you need them? Yep.

  2. Nurturing and reliable? Yep.

  3. Quick to bail you out of a situation such as grabbing the kids while you do overtime? Yep

  4. There to give unwanted advice that you roll your eye at while they are giving it, but can't believe how useful it was later? Yep.

  5. Tell you you have a booger in your nose or dress still tucked in your panties? Yep

  6. Let you know quickly when the man/woman you brought to dinner was "not" the right one? Yep.

  7. Gets up at the crack of dawn, gets fully dressed just to read the paper? Yep.

  8. Closes the blinds, curtains and may possibly put up a sheet on the window so that no one can "see" in? Yep

I could go on and on... either way, our seniors are gems. They are the elite. They deserve all the praise. If you are reading this, make a point out today to thank a senior. Tell them you appreciate them. Listen to the story for the 102nd time. We are living day by day and with this pandemic breathing down our backs, it is time now more than ever to stay in touch and tell someone you care. Start with the senior in your family.. after all, they are truly our FIRST RESPONDERS.
